The project

The growing prevalence of childhood obesity represents a significant challenge for European health, education, and social systems, disproportionately affecting children and families in vulnerable conditions, who often face limited access to information and preventive resources. In this context, Healthy EAT aims to prevent childhood obesity and promote healthy lifestyles by strengthening parental competences and supporting social and healthcare educators. The project addresses these challenges by improving food and nutrition literacy, promoting informed nutritional choices, and fostering healthy family and community environments through a multifactorial, participatory, and life-course-oriented approach.

The main objectives

  • analyse family, social, and environmental factors influencing the onset of childhood obesity across different European contexts, with a particular focus on vulnerable families;
  • co-design evidence-based educational resources for parents, caregivers, and educators, aimed at improving nutrition literacy, strengthening parenting skills, and countering food-related misinformation;
  • develop and disseminate digital learning tools, including an e-booklet and an interactive e-learning platform, designed to be accessible and adaptable to different socio-economic contexts;
  • train social and healthcare educators and test the developed materials through pilot activities, supporting the integration of project results into educational practices and local services.

Socialit role

Socialit is the coordinator of the project and is responsible for its overall management, partnership coordination, and activity monitoring. Socialit also leads the development of the project’s digital platform and ICT tools, ensuring their quality, accessibility, and usability, and contributes to dissemination and communication activities in collaboration with the partners, with the aim of supporting the wide uptake and long-term sustainability of the project results at European level.
