The first annual UNCAP Conference, Exhibition and Challenge was held on 17th September at the Mercure Hotel, Nottingham, UK.
The Conference was opened by the Lord Mayor of Nottingham, Councillor Jackie Morris. The Lord Mayor has worked as a nurse at the City and Highbury Hospitals, this medical background gives her an understanding of the issues facing the ageing population today.
This successful event attracted international speakers outwith the project consortium including John Herring (Oracle, USA), Kathi Schleidt (Austrian Environmental Agency), Eddie Oldfield (eHealth, OGC, Canada) and Stephen Fuller (Nottingham Geospatial Institute). Topics included Standardization, Security, Interoperability, Procurement and Innovation opportunities for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises. During the conference, an exhibition of future technologies was represented by many companies, including Social IT.
